Carissa has accumulated 1,405 hours as a Certified Clinical Yoga Therapist, iRest Teacher, and Thai Bodyworks Therapist. She collaborates with numerous clients in Co-Meditation Counseling and conducts at least one Yoga Nidra and Sound Therapy workshop monthly. She has achieved the highest level of training in Yoga Therapy and iRest and is currently a Level 1 Thai Bodyworks Therapist. Her passion lies in working with rehabilitation patients recovering from surgery or terminal illnesses, as well as assisting with recovery from suicide attempts and prevention efforts. For surgery rehabilitation and recovery from life-threatening illnesses, she employs therapy tools such as Thai Bodywork adjustments in yoga pose therapy and Bio Tuning with Sound Bath Therapy. In her work with trauma-sensitive yoga or suicide recovery and prevention therapy, she utilizes tools like Co-Meditations and iRest Yoga Nidras. Carissa enjoys teaching iRest Yoga Nidra and Co-Meditations, sharing her enthusiasm through workshops throughout the greater Houston area, including Champions, CityCenter, Cinco Ranch, and Cypress.
Currently, Carissa assists clients facing challenges ranging from insomnia to anxiety, depression, attention retention issues, and PTSD. A fun fact about her is that she adores animals, caring for five cats, three dogs, thirteen sugar gliders, and numerous outdoor furry friends! She also participates in cycling events, such as the annual Bike Around the Bay in Galveston. Her favorite quote is: "Slow down and listen to your body; it is in constant communication with you—own your health." Private sessions with Carissa are tailored specifically to meet each client's unique needs. The process begins with a discussion about interests, challenges, and desired outcomes, followed by the development of a customized and evolving plan. This can encompass tools for stress management and resilience building, along with a practice known as co-meditation for creative visioning. Co-meditation is a guided meditative journey that can be adapted to various intentions. Individuals from diverse backgrounds discover that these practices can help unlock and explore ideas, inspiration, and innovation. Co-meditations facilitate deep dives into meditation, accessing profound states of consciousness where healing and experiences of wholeness naturally emerge. This process can assist in removing obstacles, leading to an open and inspired space where one can clearly envision the life they are meant to create.
